Capreo 9-26t cassette (not a freewheel)
The Capreo drivetrain system was designed specifically for small wheeled cycles. By scaling down the size of all of the cogs, the bicycle or tricycle is geared upward to compensate for the small drive-wheel.
Many folding bicycles and recumbents use the Capreo system. Particularly, the Greenspeed GT5, GT3, X3, X5, and X7 use Capreo cassettes as standard equipment.
This cassette is for use on a Capreo freehub only. In the olden days, bicycles used freewheels, but this is a true cassette system. It is incompatible with most conventional cassettes from Shimano and SRAM.
This particular cassette has a small cog size of 9 teeth (9T) and a large cog size of 26 teeth (26T) with 9-speed spacing. The spacing is compatible with most standard 9-speed rear derailleurs.
An added advantage of using the Capreo cassette and freehub is that the rear derailleur does not need to have the same range as with conventional MTB / mountain-bike equipment. A short-cage derailleur can generally be used, thus eliminated interference with obstacles close to the ground.
